BAPTIST UNION ALUMNI NATIONAL NETWORK GUIDELINES
I. Purpose.
To promote the BSU Advancement Fund as it seeks "to assist Baptist student
ministries in the United States and Canada or where such ministries are needed and
financial resources are limited because of fewer and smaller Baptist churches in the
area."
II. Leadership.
Leadership for the BSU Alumni National Network will be provided by the Executive
Committee and Advancement Council of the Network.
III. Executive Committee.
A. Composition.
1. Six members.
2. Elected by Advancement Council.
3. Initial Executive Committee will be composed of the founders of
the BSU Advancement Fund plus two other individuals invited by
them to join the committee.
B. Officers.
l. Chairperson. 4. Communication Coordinator
2. Vice Chairperson. 5. Solicitation Coordinator
3. Secretary-Treasurer. 6. Prospect Coordinator
C. Responsibilities.
1. Elect Executive Committee officers annually; by September of each year.
2. Develop fund-raising strategies for the BSU Adv8.ncement Fund.
3. Execute fund-raising strategies approved by the Advancement Council.
4. Maintain communication with appropriate entities (state Student
directors Association, Association of Southern Baptist Campus Ministers, Student Ministry
Department of the BSSB, and representatives of the Home Mission Board) on specific student
ministry needs and how these needs might be met by supporters of the BSU advancement Fund.
5. Solicit initial donors.
6. Select and enlist initial Advancement Council.
7. Fill vacancies which occur on the Advancement Council,
8. Make nominations for Executive Committee to the Advancement Council for election
annually either by a mail ballot or at a regular meeting.
9. Schedule and plan meetings of Advancement Council as needed.
10.Receive status reports on the BSU Advancement Fund from the Southern Baptist
Foundation.
11.Make reports to contributors.
12.Initiate rotation of initial Executive Committee members after first three years of
operation.
IV. Advancement Council.
A. Composition.
1. Composed of the Executive Committee plus at least nine other
individuals who are contributors to the BSU Advancement Fund; minimum membership of
council would be fifteen.
2. Initial group selected by the Executive Committee.
3. Vacancies filled by invitation of the Executive Committee.
4. After first three years, membership will rotate on a three year basis.
B. Officers.
1. Officers of the Executive Committee will be the officers of the Advancement Council.
C. Responsibilities.
1. Encourage others to participate financially in the BSU Advancement Fund.
2. Provide advice and encouragement to the Executive Committee.
3. Approve and support fund-raising strategies for the BSU Advancement Fund.
4. Elect new Executive Committee members from nominations presented by the Executive
Committee.
