BSU Advancement Fund
Sponsored by the Baptist Student Union Alumni National Network

Welcome to the BSU Advancement Fund

Where are the largest universities in the United States? Recent studies indicate that eight of the top ten schools in enrollment are located in states where there is a limited Southern Baptist witness to college students.

As the fund grows each year more work can be helped at a greater level. $213,598 has been made available in support of collegiate ministry from the Baptist Student Union Advancement Fund since 1994.

How will these students come to know Christ and become part of His church?

The BSU Alumni National Network is aware of this need. This group is made up of friends of student ministries. Many of them are BSU alumni, former campus and state directors, parents, and some are even current students

Contributions may be made to the BSU Advancement Fund at one of the four following addresses:

Where Does the Money Go?

Annual earnings from the BSU Advancement Fund are used to assist Baptist student ministries in areas where there is a special need. The BSU Advancement Fund has set for distribution $29,402 for 2008 from the increase on money on deposit for the Advancement Fund. This year the money will go to collegiate ministry in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New England, New York, Northwest, Ohio, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

How Can I Get Involved?

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT THE FUND, send a contribution to one of the addresses above. If you are currently a student, challenge your BSU or Baptist Collegiate Ministry to support the fund through a special offering or fund-raising project. Several local BSUs and state BSUs are contributing to the fund.

IF YOU ARE WORKING WITH A STUDENT MINISTRY IN AN EMERGING REGION, contact your state director of Baptist collegiate ministries about submitting a request for assistance next year. As the fund grows, more grants will be available.
Most importantly, pray for the expansion of a Christian witness on campuses across North America.

How Great is the Need?

Webster Carroll is a veteran Southern Baptist missionary and currently serves with his wife, Betty, with Global Outreach in Uganda. Carroll writes, "So often I have thanked the Lord for allowing me to have my youth and college career exactly when He did when BSU so greatly helped me to make the transition from a dependence upon a strong Christian family and a strong, caring home church to seeking Christ's reign in my personal life. . . . This is a wonderful cause. . . . We must have the work of BSU enlarged to change the lives of students for Christ."
